Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly announced on Apr. 2 the appointment of Jonathan T. Streett to fill a vacancy on the county’s Board of Education, following the resignation of board member Mark Korn for health reasons.

The appointment comes as counties continue to prioritize education governance, including budget planning and oversight of local school systems. The move is intended to ensure continuity and stability in educational leadership through the remainder of Korn’s term, which runs until 2028.

“Jon Streett brings a lifetime of experience, leadership, and commitment to Harford County,” Cassilly said. “As an 11th-generation resident, a graduate of Bel Air High School, and a parent of three children who attended Harford County Public Schools, Jon understands firsthand the importance of strong public education. His professional background managing large-scale operations, negotiating complex agreements, and leading teams across the globe will bring valuable perspective to the Board of Education.” – County Executive Cassilly

Streett has nearly thirty years’ experience in senior leadership roles within maritime and transportation logistics sectors.

The appointment requires confirmation by the Harford County Council before it becomes effective. If confirmed, Streett will serve out the rest of Korn’s term through 2028.
