Anne Arundel County Public Schools issued the following announcement on June 6.
The Maryland State Department of Education has approved a one-day waiver for Richard Henry Lee Elementary School and Corkran Middle School that makes the last day of classes for students at both schools this year Thursday, June 14, 2018.
The waiver is necessary to allow both schools the time needed to facilitate movement of materials and supplies to Corkran Middle, which will house Richard Henry Lee Elementary School students in first through fifth grades for the next two school years. Richard Henry Lee Elementary School kindergarten students will be housed at Oakwood Elementary School for the next two school years.
MSDE previously granted waivers for the following schools to also close on June 14, 2018, to allow for construction projects:
- Brock Bridge Elementary School (open space enclosures)
- George Cromwell Elementary School (revitalization project)
- High Point Elementary School (modernization project)
- Shady Side Elementary School (open space enclosures)
