Maryland Department of Transportation purchases totaled $788,418,296 in 2017

Maryland Department of Transportation's biggest purchases in 2017 included $336,862,510 to Wmata, $319,790,128 to Depository Trust Company and $31,645,767 to National Railroad Passenger Corp Dba Amtrak, public records analyzed by Anne Arundel Today show.

The Department of Budget and Management publishes all payments made by public agencies in each fiscal year. Vendors include private businesses, local governments, non-profit organizations, and individuals.

Maryland Department of Transportation reported 183 purchases in fiscal year 2017, with total purchases reaching $788,418,296. The top 20 purchases accounted for 96.7 percent of the agency's total spending that year.
