BROADNECK HIGH SCHOOL: Fall 2018: A Season of Greatness

Sports2

Broadneck High School issued the following announcement on Nov. 11.

Anyone who spends much time around athletics has heard the famous Vince Lombardi quote about victory. Lombardi famously said, “I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” Many people interpret this quote to mean that one’s greatest moment is found in victory. But if you take a step back and look at the larger meaning, about heart and exhaustion, you realize that the greatness can be found in the effort and in the process, as much as in the result.

This fall has seen the Broadneck athletic program achieve greatness in every program and at every level. Take a look at the list of accomplishments below. You see our teams posting high marks, competing for and winning championships. Byt the pile of hardware doesn’t tell the whole story. Our teams overcame teams in the playoffs that had beaten them during the regular season. Our teams came together in championship moments to “leave it all on the field” and while the scoreboard was sometimes against us, there is no doubt that our players and coaches gave their very best.

Please join me in a virtual round of applause for our fall athletes, our coaches and all of the parents and student members of Bruination who came out in the sun and heat and the cold and rain to support our athletes.
