Anne Arundel County issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.
Dwelling Fire- West Annapolis
On December 3rd at 3:37 p.m. firefighters responded to a reported dwelling fire in the 800 block of Bestgate Road.
First arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from a single family, split foyer home.
Firefighters located fire on all levels of the home in addition to two autos on fire to the rear of the home.
Forty-five firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Annapolis City, and the Naval Academy were able to control the fire in about 40 minutes with additional time needed for overhaul and extinguishment of hot spots.
Four adult and one infant occupant have been displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit, and no damage estimate has been established.
There were no injuries.
