Anne Arundel County Department of Health issued the following announcement on July 26.
Maryland Department of Health is investigating an increase in #Cyclospora infections across the state. Cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness, is caused by a microscopic parasite. People can become infected by consuming food or water contaminated with feces that contain the parasite. In the U.S., cyclosporiasis outbreaks have been linked to various imported fresh produce, such as raspberries, basil, snow peas, mesclun lettuce and cilantro. No commercially frozen or canned produce has been implicated to date.
