Anne Arundel County issued the following announcement on July 17.
County Executive Steve Schuh today announced that Anne Arundel County has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
“We are blessed to have a financial team in Anne Arundel County understands the importance of open government,” said Schuh. “The dedication to transparency demonstrated by Controller Karin McQuade and her office is setting an example for the nation.”
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The award is given by an impartial panel that judges whether a CAFR demonstrates a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” that clearly communicates a government entity’s financial story.
“It is an honor to be recognized by the GFOA for our 2017 CAFR,” said Controller Karin McQuade. “I would like to sincerely thank the entire finance team as this award would not be possible without their hard work and dedication.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
